Curated by Man-Ling Cheng, Island Pulp presents a brand-new series of works by Taiwanese artist Hsin Hwang.Combining painting and drawing, this series explores the imagery of Taiwanese tropical fruits and female forms acting as land spirits. Drawing deeply on island mythology, animism, and personal memory, the exhibition reveals the poignant overlap between the overseas export of Taiwanese fruits and the artist’s own personal experience of living in a foreign land. Through a childlike perspective, these distinct forms and vibrant tropical fruits rely on and nestle against each other, evolving into subtle symbols of belonging and personal transformation. By seamlessly intertwining female narratives, natural wonders, and animistic beliefs, this series opens a gentle, reflective dialogue about memory and emotion suspended between reality and myth.
