Lincoln Glenn Gallery is pleased to present Si Lewen: Power of Art , a retrospective exhibition surveying more than eight decades of the artist’s life and work. Bringing together a diverse range of mediums, materials, and styles, the exhibition traces Lewen’s artistic development from his early years in the United States through his later work, offering a broader perspective on a career often defined by his celebrated series, The Parade. Beginning with a selection of works from The Parade, Lewen’s landmark sequence of drawings conceived in the aftermath of World War II, the exhibition expands beyond this defining body of work to explore his early paintings influenced by American Regionalism, works produced during his years of relative seclusion following his withdrawal from the art world, and pieces created in the final decades of his life. Together, these works reveal the range of an artist whose practice extended far beyond The Parade for which he is best known. Presented in conjunction with the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s fall 2026 exhibition There Are No Words: Si Lewen’s Parade, this exhibition offers a more expansive view of Lewen’s artistic legacy. The exhibition’s title, Si Lewen: Power of Art draws inspiration from a letter Albert Einstein wrote to Lewen in 1951, in which he praised Lewen for his work’s power and political significance.
