## James Little: Homage El Shabazz

- When: Opens Nov 05, on view through Dec 19
- Run: Nov 05 – Dec 19, 2026

Petzel is pleased to present Homage El Shabazz , James Little’s third exhibition with the gallery, which brings together a rarely seen body of work from a pivotal moment in Little’s practice. The exhibition comprises six intimately scaled paintings from Little’s Homage El Shabazz series made between 1985 and 1989. This show marks the largest presentation of the series since 1992, when six of these works were included in the Walker Art Center’s Malcom X: Man, Ideal, Icon exhibition curated by Dr. Kellie Jones. Coinciding with Homage El Shabazz , the first extensive monograph on Little’s five-decade career will be published this fall, featuring essays by Valerie Cassel Oliver, Aruna D’Souza, Gavin Delahunty, and Carrie Cooperider. Petzel will host a public launch and signing for the book at their 25th Street location on November 14, with Little in conversation with Aruna D’Souza.

## Tschabalala Self: Tools of Worship

- When: Opens Nov 05, on view through Jan 30, 2027
- Run: Nov 05, 2026 – Jan 30, 2027
- Source: https://www.petzel.com/exhibitions/tschabalala-self2

Petzel is pleased to present Tools of Worship , Tschabalala Self ’s first solo exhibition with the gallery and her first gallery exhibition in New York since 2020. The show brings together new paintings and the artist’s first sculptural works in concrete. Following her monumental public sculpture for the New Museum’s façade in New York and the unveiling of her Fourth Plinth commission in London, Tools of Worship develops Self’s sustained investigation of the human figure, considering the body as both an object and a site of exchange through which meaning, desire, memory, and belief circulate.
