Hailed by The Guardian as “the most exciting and creatively assured jazz flutist to have emerged in years,” Elena Pinderhughes has a distinctive voice that’s expanding jazz's emotional range. Her work channels something rarely articulated in the genre: music that feels both tender and sensual, mysterious and direct, grounded in feminine creative vision without apology. After a decade as one of the most sought-after collaborators across genres, the flutist-composer-vocalist is stepping out as a bandleader. Her instrumental debut, arriving in fall 2026, marks the full emergence of an artist who has spent years elevating groundbreaking projects while quietly developing her own creative philosophy. The breadth of Pinderhughes' collaborations spans the full spectrum of contemporary music: touring with Herbie Hancock and Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah, performing at Coachella with Future and Metro Boomin, appearing on recordings by Ambrose Akinmusire, Robert Glasper, Esperanza Spalding, Terrace Martin, and Common. Her contributions extend into R&B through projects with Victoria Monét, Giveon, and Cynthia Erivo. In film, as part of Laura Karpman's composing studio, she contributed to the Academy Award-nominated score for American Fiction and HBO's Duster. These experiences became the foundation for an artistic approach that moves between worlds without compromising authenticity, honoring tradition while pushing beyond its boundaries. Raised in the Bay Area's progressive cultural landscape and trained at Manhattan School of Music, Pinderhughes has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the White House, and major jazz festivals from Newport and Monterey to Montreal and Montreux. She developed a sound rooted in jazz tradition but unafraid of its evolution, with playing that is enigmatic yet warm, technical yet emotionally transparent. The New York Times called it "boppish fluency but a relaxed sense of phrase," while composer Nicole Mitchell notes that her work “catalyzes tears and joy”. As bandleader, Pinderhughes now channels this breadth into her own music with an unguarded, deeply personal voice that few on her instrument have dared to show.

## Sid Sriram

- Venue: Blue Note Jazz Club, 131 W 3rd St, New York, NY 10012 ([Google Maps](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Blue+Note+Jazz+Club/@40.7309083,-74.0006557,15z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x921181beeb4ce349!8m2!3d40.730836!4d-74.0007324))
- Run: Nov 5–6, 2026
- Tickets: https://www.ticketweb.com/event/sid-sriram-blue-note-jazz-club-tickets/14900393?pl=bluenoteny
- Source: https://www.bluenotejazz.com/nyc/tm-event/sid-sriram-3/

For Sid Sriram, there is a quality inherent in the Carnatic music of South India that he describes as "universal truth." The 32-year-old singer/songwriter has spent years imparting this truth to audiences in India and across the world; today, he ranks as one of the most popular Bollywood singers of the past decade. On his new English-language album Sidharth , however, he departs from the musical lineage of his family's home country, where he has lived since 2015, and draws on the R&B, indie rock, and American pop styles he grew up with as an immigrant kid in Fremont, CA, in the '90s and 2000s. Through doing so, he hoped to find a way to communicate "truth" in music through deeper personal exploration. "For maybe the first time, I was able to make music where all these different elements that feel like part of my DNA breathed through the songs," Sid explains. "I didn't have to try and think about how to express these things. It started to come out on its own." Sidharth is a massive-sounding record: soulful, ethereal, and emotionally dense. Many of its 14 tracks sound like they are echoing down from a mountaintop. However, the album was recorded in an intimate context. In the summer of 2021, Sid took a leap of faith and hopped on a plane to Minneapolis, where he and producer Ryan Olson (Poliça, Gayngs, Bon Iver), who had previously only met on Instagram, spent an intensive week in the studio. Most of the songs were tracked live by a small team of Olson associates, including Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, of whom Sid was a longtime fan. "There was no ego," Sid remembers. "Everyone was just really happy to be back in a room making music with each other. Granted, I didn't know any of them at the time. But it felt really quickly like a family." Fronting this band, Sid threw his entire creative self into crafting vocal hooks and elaborate songforms on the fly. "I had to trust in chaos and let it guide me," he recalls. The music that resulted from that studio joyride is a dizzying combination of pop anthems and progressive experiments, centered on Sid's heart-wrenching vocal performances and Olson's adventurous electronics. Hook-forward tracks with dance floor energy, like the Afrobeat-inflected "Friendly Fire," slot in next to unexpected diversions like "The Hard Way," a celebration of family and loved ones featuring a hyperactive drum 'n' bass groove that splits the difference between Janet Jackson in her Velvet Rope era and post- Kid-A Radiohead. All this may seem like a far cry from the music that has made Sid famous with Bollywood fans worldwide since breaking out with his first hit soundtrack song, "Adiye" (from 2013's Kadal ), just a year out of music school. Indeed, many of the million-plus-viewed videos of Sid feature him singing ragas backed by traditional instruments, not freestyling personal narratives over glitchy 808s and Auto-Tune beds. But before his sudden success, Sriram was an American 20-something obsessed with pop and R&B; he found early viral success by posting a Frank Ocean cover ("We All Try") to YouTube. In many ways, Sidharth highlights the ways in which the musical personalities of that younger version of Sid and the Carnatic music star Sid relate to and complement one another. During some of the record's most breathtaking moments, Sid combines contrasting these musical modes to moving effect. "Dear Sahana," a song about "yearning for companionship," mixes R&B and gospel with Indian classical melismas and country music flourishes. In a nod to his earliest musical memories, the children's choir his mother has led since Sid's youth lends support at the song's climax, a moment that always makes him tear up while listening back. Country music, on the other hand, was mostly alien to Sid, but he found that it fit naturally into his musical universe. "I realize that pedal steel lends itself to the way my voice moves," he explains. "The way it can bend felt like a cool mirror to the Carnatic-based melodies." Though its songs often look resolutely towards an open-ended future, Sidharth also represents a homecoming of sorts for Sid, re-embracing American culture after spending years absorbed in the musical traditions of his ancestral homeland. This return to his roots is reflected in the album title, which relates to a moment of childhood self-actualization. "When we first moved to the Bay, in second grade, I decided to change my name to Sid since so many people fucked it up," he says. " Sidharth , in a way, is me reclaiming the name and everything that comes with it, not just culturally, but for me personally." It is a fitting title for a record across which Sid seems to be — as he puts it — "excavating" his life experiences in search of clues that can help him on an uncertain and exciting journey ahead.

Born in Newham General hospital and raised in Manor Park, East London - walking a path towards becoming a musician wasn’t originally on the cards for Yazmin. She was committed to working with young people. Inspired by the amazing youth workers who had helped support her, Yazmin was intent on being that for others. Yazmin has always been passionate about supporting young people, inspired by the youth workers who once encouraged her. “I’ve always had someone believe in me or shown me an alternative way to live or express myself in life - that’s why I got into this work.” It's taken her to new places: from helping with programming at a Leicester record shop, to working at a youth theatre festival in Amsterdam, and supporting pupils in referral units in Nottingham. Her time at the Nottingham Refugee Forum especially helped build the confidence she now brings to performing. “There’s nothing like standing in front of 20 young people expecting you to lead—it forces you to be creative on the spot. It’s a different way of being creative but I’ve always found that really helpful and inspiring working with human beings who have not yet been totally tainted by the adult world.’ Whilst Yazmin was making strides in the youthwork space, life threw her a sweet curveball when after moving to the midlands for university, she met her then boyfriend who was a music producer. Although he kept pressing her on the idea of singing, outside of a short stint in her church choir she is quick to admit that was never something she dreamt of. But after multiple moments of cajoling and one late night studio session a strong-willed Lacey was finally in the mood to play with her talent. Much like her life, when it comes to music, Yazmin moves on intuition. After feeling less than confident with her first ever gig, she promised that she would never chase a career in music but instead lean on her inner compass to direct her as and when opportunities to perform came along. Although she claims that she came to music ‘late’ (she was 27 when she began her singing career) when listening to earlier songs like ‘90 degrees’ and her latest single ‘Ain’t I Good For You’ they both make brilliant cases for the fact that she wasn’t tardy at all but instead right on time. Yazmin’s journey proves that delay is never denial and there are positives to playing a slower game; ‘I wouldn’t have been able to handle this environment in my early 20’s. It’s good to know I had a sense of self outside of music and I still do now.’ But even when making music wasn’t her primary concern, she did notice that sharing good tunes was a way to inspire community. ‘My family comes together when music is playing’ and pulling people in is a natural gift for Yazmin and her songs are proof that she doesn’t have to physically be in the room to do so. With the notable music titan Questlove declaring he ‘Looooooves Yazmin Lacey’ it’s clear she has the admiration of her peers and this point is further proven by the undeniable success of her honey dipped vocals on Ezra Collective’s ‘God Gave Me Feet For Dancing’ a certified festival classic. Joining the band on stage to perform the hit song on Strictly Come Dancing and Radio 1 Live Lounge has not only been a career highlight for Lacey but has also widened the radius of audience and allowed new listeners to find Lacey’s healthy back catalogue. Whilst working on Teal Dreams, Yazmin also found herself in the midst of a new love of presenting, which saw her start her own radio show ‘Morning Matters’ on Rinse FM. Described as a ‘feel good wake up call’ it’s been a brilliant way for fans to gain insight into what music Lacey is currently enjoying. With guests including Kojey Radical and Katy B, Lacey is excited about the surprise guests still to come. Yet Teal Dreams is here to remind her earlier fan base that they need not worry, her music is still as soul soothing and authentic as ever. Where her debut album ‘Voice Notes’ felt rooted in a specific genre, ‘Teal Dreams’ is not to be tied down. Sonically, Teal Dreams easily oozes the influences of ska and lover’s rock - no doubt encouraged by Lacey’s Caribbean heritage. With tracks like Wallpaper feeling like a late night shoobs and lyrics like ‘Those who don’t hear they must surely feel’ (‘Love is like the ghetto’) reminding us that Yazmin’s music is unmistakably Black with a purposeful capital B, much like her inspirations. The album journeys feelings of completion for Yazmin, with singles such as Rear View “helped tie up loose ends.”, or the realities of relationships that hold more weight than can be taken for granted. While the lens is often magnified on romantic relationships she explores the needs of friendships as she remarks on the topic on the tracks Ribbons and Water to be “truly seen by your friends is everything”. And it’s that authenticity that clearly informs Lacey’s confidence for taking any sound and making it her own is proven on tracks like ‘NO PROMISES’ which weaves through the speakers like an indie favourite that aligns with our current 90’s nostalgia obsession. A last-minute trip to Thailand really helped shape this album. Given that all her songs are written from real life experiences Yazmin shares how important it is to get quiet and to give space for her ideas to land. Working with talented musicians and producers like Miles James, Barney Lister, Jack Penate and Matt Maltese, Teal Dreams is peeling back the layers and sharing her growth with fans both old and new alike. Whilst she enjoys having a space to be creative Yazmin makes it clear that she is not chasing the validation of all the pomp and pageantry that often comes with being in the music industry. She is a believer that what is for her would never pass her by and given the fact she has had such fast-growing live success (she headlined Village Underground followed by KOKO and also had tracks synced on FIFA and on the Netflix hit ‘Dear White People’ it’s clear that Yazmin is a master at manifesting career wins on her own terms. Crediting Missy Elliot, Little Simz and even the visual artist Danielle McKinney as touchstones. Not just for what they produce but more so the fearless way in which these Black women won’t be pigeonholed by society’s ideals. With three EPs and now two albums under her belt, it’s glaringly obvious that Lacey is paving her own way and every step taken has been intentional and rooted in good feelings. And although she doesn’t need a confidence boost, she shares that her favourite feedback from her fans is that her music allows them to see themselves as it in turn makes her feel seen too. But with Teal Dreams we don’t just hear and see her, we also feel a change in Lacey’s vibration; one that she’s keen to highlight with songs like ‘Two Steps’ and ‘Ain’t I good for you’, you can tell I’m much more assertive on this album to go from ‘oh - he didn’t want me - to no sorry, are alright in your head?!’ She cackles ‘I remember when I made morning matters, and it was more uplifting and everything before it had been more chaotic and I remember thinking right, everyone just going be like, Oh, now she's a bit happier has the writing gone south?’ But at this point in her career Lacey is clear that she is comfortable being seen as multifaceted. She is comfortable being herself. ‘I'm like…No. Everyone else gets to have all these forms of expressions so whatever I choose to write or whatever I choose to pick out of my life right now is an of ering, and that's all right. And given how reflective, candid and vibrant Teal Dreams is, it’s an offering that her fans; past, future and present will gladly accept. Speaking of society’s ideals, it would be remiss not to add that Yazmin continuously showing up in a space that typically only makes room for women who are deemed as commercially beautiful by western beauty standards, is a defiant and powerful act. A voluptuous beauty with deep mahogany skin, a halo of natural hair and a chic gap between her front teeth, Yazmin effortlessly represents women, who don’t often get to see themselves celebrated, be that on stage or in real life. Although it’s not her intention many of her female fans gravitate towards Lacey because she reminds them to be authentically themselves. Teal Dreams welcomes listeners into Yazmin’s world—one that embraces joy, truth and the beauty of being seen.

Francois Wiss, Bryan Vargas, and Jose Ramon Rosario are proud to present their unique renditions of the many hits of the Cuban legends of the Buena Vista Social Club. They will perform all the beloved classics of Ibrahim Ferrer, Eliades Ochoa, Ruben Gonzales, and of course Compay Segundo, but also some hidden gems from their repertoire, blended with accents of flamenco and World music, offering a fresh take and their vision on these timeless tunes. Francois Wiss is a French-American musician and producer based in NYC for the past two decades. Born in Paris in 1973, and brought up in a family of musicians, he studied with maestros such as Terry Fleming, Juan del Gastor, El Mati, Belaïd Aït Adbdallah, and Pierre Culaz. His unique style of guitar playing is inspired by flamenco, North African, Latin, World music, jazz, and psychedelic rock. From the edgy scene of Camden Town in the 90’s, to Andalusia, and the Americas, Francois Wiss has always been looking for inspiration in the music played out on the street, improvising, sharing, and jamming with strangers and people met along the way. This is how innovation meets tradition; and how the old ways of street musicians, which are still very alive in La Havana today, are both preserved and constantly reinvented. Brooklyn based guitarist, bassist, Cuatrista, & composer Bryan Vargas has recorded and performed on stages around the world with music legends as well as underground indie phenoms. Primarily active in New York’s “Global Music” community, he has performed with artists such as Antibalas, Chop and Quench, Miramar, Arturo O’Farill, Seun Kuti, Groove Collective, Stretch & Bobbito, Yomo Toro, Os Mutantes, Lionel Loueke, and so many more. Over five decades, he has excelled both as an actor, collaborating with some of the most prominent figures in American entertainment, and as a musician, particularly as a percussionist and harpist, where his collaborations span across the globe with countless artists and projects. The rich repertoire of the Buena Vista Social Club, brimming with poetry, humor, and rhythm, provides an ideal canvas for spontaneous improvisation and genuine expression of emotions. Wiss, Vargas, and Rosario, alongside several guest performers, extend a heartfelt invitation for you to join them in experiencing and cherishing that singular and enchanting moment together.

Inayah (IN-eye-yuh) is leading with emotional authority. With a combination of unshakeable Southern-fried swag and impassioned vocals, the singer/songwriter/actress has rapidly risen as a powerful voice in R&B thanks to her heartfelt stories about relationships, self-confidence, and navigating through faith. Her new album, Therapy Wasn’t Enough (EMPIRE), captures the raw complexities of modern love when professional help still leaves lingering doubt. This concept is best heard on the vulnerable lead single, "Choose.” Over minimal production, comforting harmonies, and a real audio clip from one of Inayah’s own therapy sessions, her pained vocals take center stage as she finds herself faced with feeling like she has to choose between love and music. Five years in the making, the album is filled with diaristic singles like "WTF," "All Falls Down," and "Outside,” all of which further detail this deeply personal, ongoing journey and the realization that some emotional wounds require more than just scheduled one-hour sessions. In 2014, Inayah's musical journey took root as she began writing songs for a jingle company while simultaneously sharing cover videos on social media and auditioning for singing competition shows like American Idol and The Voice. Inayah's dedication and patience paid off when her version of Ella Mai's "Boo'd Up" went viral on Instagram, propelling her followers from a modest 4,000 to an impressive 1.3 million, and getting the attention of Jamie Foxx, Maxwell, and many more. Her growing popularity and genuine talent caught the attention of EMPIRE. It led to a distribution deal that culminated in the release of 2019's S.O.L.A.R. (Storytelling Over Lyrics and Rhymes), which amassed over 635.6M streams and featured the RIAA Platinum-certified hit "Best Thing." In 2022, she followed up with her Insecure album while landing her first acting role as Trina on BET's Emmy-nominated The Ms. Pat Show. In 2024, Inayah released her acclaimed album Wait, There's More featuring singles "For the Streets," "Hot Sauce," and "Pretty Girls." Last year, she starred in Tyler Perry/Amazon MGM Studios' film Finding Joy, which reached No. 1 on Prime Video's U.S. charts one week after its release.

Mamas Gun is a 5-piece band from the UK. Their sound is one that straddles so-called blue eyed soul and the best of soul in the black music tradition. With soul music being the common ground between the 5 members, echoes of artists such as Marvin Gaye, Bobby Caldwell, Bill Withers, Lewis Taylor and Sly Stone can be heard weaving in between the sonic threads of their frequently uplifting and heart rending music. Drummer Chris Boot’s softly-softly but always groovy presence on the drums is perfectly complimented by the warm bouncy James Jamerson-esque bass guitar stylings of Cameron Dawson. Together their sound is intimate, highly musical and questing. Guitarist Terry Lewis’ deft touch on the guitar adds to the authenticity of the sound. Think percussive Motown style “chanks”, shimmering spring reverb, Cornell Dupree’s chordal fluency and searing Isley Brothers style lead sounds. Dave Oliver’s profound control and connection with keyboard instruments sees him at home with everything from serene jazz piano and crunchy Wurlitzer textures to roaring gospel Hammond and warm vocal-esque synth lines. Sitting atop is the yearning honeyed voice of Andy Platts. Surprisingly reluctant to identify as a singer, his abilities nevertheless able to stir deep emotional reactions from listeners. Names like Marvin Gaye and Daryl Hall are often mentioned but Platts’ really has a unique sound all of his own. Mamas Gun was originally formed by Platts in 2007, and who is also largely responsible for the groups songwriting output. Running parallel he has enjoyed an illustrious side career as a songwriter has penned hits for Take That, James Morrison and various high profile stars in South Korea and Japan, among many others. Since 2015 he has also been one half of yacht rock duo Young Gun Silver Fox alongside cult musician and producer Shawn Lee, cultivating a major presence in Europe and the United States. Mamas Gun have issued six albums to date, the latest DIG! featuring a line up completed by keyboardist Dave Oliver, known for being MD for Lisa Stansfield and guitarist Terry Lewis, a well regarded sideman whose credits include Leon Ware, The Impressions and Rumer, both there from Mamas Gun’s inception; bassist Cameron Dawson, known for playing bass for Cinematic Orchestra, Puma Blue and Joy Crookes, who joined for 2014’s third album Cheap Hotel and Chris Boot, whose playing credits include Alice Russell, Nilufer Yanya and Lucy Rose, the group’s drummer since 2018’s fourth album Golden Days.

Charles Lloyd, is an NEA Jazz Master and recipient of the prestigious French honor, l'Ordre Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres. Voted DownBeat magazine’s Artist of the Year in 1967, Charles Lloyd was again voted Artist of the Year in 2023. And in 2024 he was honored with a rare DownBeat Critic’s Poll quadruple crown; Hall of Fame, Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Tenor Saxophonist of the Year–John Coltrane being the only other artist to receive that honor. Lloyd has a legendary history in the music world, and could certainly be in a position to slow down and rest on his laurels. The depth of his expression reflects a lifetime of experience. But looking back has never been of great interest to this tender warrior; “Go forward,” is his motto, as he keeps shifting to a higher, well calibrated gear. In 1956 Lloyd moved to Los Angeles and graduated from the University of Southern California. During this period Lloyd played in Gerald Wilson's big band, and formed his own group that included Billy Higgins, Don Cherry, Bobby Hutcherson, Scott LaFaro, and Terry Trotter. Lloyd joined Chico Hamilton in 1960. His influence as a composer quickly pushed the group in a more progressive post-bop direction when Hamilton asked him to be the group's "music director." In 1964 Lloyd left Hamilton's group to join alto saxophonist Cannonball Adderley. He recorded two albums as a leader for Columbia Records, Discovery and Of Course, Of Course; his sidemen included Gabor Szabo, Don Friedman, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Tony Williams, and Pete La Roca. In 1965 Lloyd formed a quartet with pianist, Keith Jarrett, bassist, Cecil McBee, drummer, Jack DeJohnette. It was a meeting of straight-ahead post-bop, Free jazz, rock, and world music. Their music quickly caught the attention of jazz fans and critics. They achieved crossover success with young rock fans and became the first jazz group to play in the famed Fillmore. The album Forest Flower, Live at Monterey, sold over one million copies. In 1970, Lloyd surprised the music world by walking away from performing just a the point that he was dubbed a jazz superstar. Actually, he was just following a trajectory that was taking him closer to the essence of the music he was hearing. During the 1970s Lloyd played occasionally with The Beach Boys both on their studio recordings and as a member of their touring band. When approached by pianist, Michel Petrucciani in 1981, he resumed performing for two years to help Petrucciani get a footing on the world stage, before retreating again to his secluded life in Big Sur. Following a near death experience in 1986, Lloyd decided to rededicate himself to music. In 1989, Lloyd reestablished an active touring schedule and began recording for ECM Records. Noteworthy albums include Fish Out of Water, Canto, Voice In The Night, The Water Is Wide (featuring Brad Mehldau, John Abercrombie, Larry Grenadier and Billy Higgins) Sangam with Zakir Hussain and Eric Harland. His 'New Quartet' with Jason Moran, piano, Reuben Rogers, bass and Eric Harland, drums has three recordings on ECM; Rabo de Nube (2008 ) was voted #1 recording for the 2008 Jazz Times Reader's and Critic's Poll, and Mirror ( 2010 ) and Passin’ Thru on Blue Note Records (2017). Commissioned by Jazztopad in Wroclaw, Poland to write a new composition to premiere at their 2013 festival, Lloyd wrote Wild Man Dance Suite for piano, bass, drums, cimbalom and lyra, released on Blue Note Records in April 2015. Lloyd formed a new group called The Marvels featuring Bill Frisell on guitar, Reuben Rogers, Eric Harland and Greg Leisz on steel guitar. Their first release I Long To See You (Blue Note 2016) featured guest tracks by Willie Nelson and Norah Jones. Vanished Gardens ( Blue Notes Records 2018 ) is a Marvels collaboration with the great American singer and poet, Lucinda Williams. Charles Lloyd maintains an active performance and recording schedule with the New Quartet, Sangam, Maria Farantouri, The Marvels and special projects around the world. He celebrated his 75th birthday with concerts in the Temple of Dendur at the Metropolitan Museum and the Kennedy Center Concert Hall. Lloyd and Jason Moran were commissioned by Alonzo King’s Lines Ballet to compose the score for a new ballet, “Azoth” which had its world premiere in October 1, 2019. Charles Lloyd, was awarded the prestigious honor of “Chevalier des Arts et Lettre” by the French Minister of Culture in August 2019. In celebration of his 80th birthday in 2018, Blue Note Records released a limited edition box set; 8, Kindred Spirits, Live from the Lobero featured fellow Memphian, Booker T. Jones. The box set includes CD, LP and DVD of the concert along with a 96 page book of photos commemorating Lloyd’s life and legacy. His newest recording, the sixth for Blue Note Records (2021) is Tone Poem, and once again, features the Marvels. In 2022 he released a Trio of Trios over a period of six months – each with a different ensemble. The first; “Chapel” with guitarist, Bill Frisell and bassist, Thomas Morgan. The second; “Ocean” with pianist, Gerald Clayton and guitarist, Anthony Wilson, and the third; “Sacred Thread” with table master, Zakir Hussain and guitarist, Julian Lage. His release “The Sky Will Still Be There Tomorrow” was recorded on his 85 birthday in 2023 and the next year won the prestigious Edison Prize in the Netherlands. King of the World was formed in January 2011 by a group of longtime friends....guys that grew up on this music and love it at a deep level. For KOTW, Steely Dan is the other level; a voodoo cocktail of cool....sort of the mutant offspring of Rock and Jazz. If Mingus or Ellington had a Rock & Roll band, this is what it might sound like. While KOTW revere the music of Fagen, Becker & Co., they don't take themselves or the whole endeavor too seriously. Steely Dan was celebrated for some of the most musical, pristine recordings ever committed to tape but KOTW make no unwarranted claim to any such lofty sonic ideals. Faithful to the original but happy to put a little stank on things, come to a show and find out: King of the World get down.

For the past decade, soulful duo The War And Treaty—the husband-and-wife team of Michael and Tanya Trotter—have released music that continues to elevate them beyond beloved industry favorites, as well as award-season and touring staples, capable of performing on stages worldwide with widespread acclaim and standing ovations. Every aspect of their new project exemplifies the pinnacle of the group's ever-creative growth within these mentioned ideas. Twelve years after their founding, The War And Treaty have redefined themselves beyond Academy of Country Music, Country Music Association, and GRAMMY nominations. Moreover, being lauded by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Grand Ole Opry, and the Americana Music Association, which named them Duo/Group of the Year for two consecutive years, cannot contain them as a group greater than the sum of their most successful parts. Immediately upon listening to their latest album, it's clear that a more vibrant energy now guides a duo confidently shaping their own destiny. Album collaborators include titans of the arts who are as much friends, mentors, and trusted confidants as they are legends across multiple industries: Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony Award winner Whoopi Goldberg (who provides the spoken word intro for "Litty"), Songwriters Hall of Famer Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds (writer of "You Can't Hurt Me Anymore"), Country Music Hall of Famer Wynonna Judd, and Grammy-nominated performer Valerie June (both on "Reclaim All Of Your Time") all contribute as guest artists. Hall of Fame-caliber mentors and influential friends, now serving as relaxed collaborators, shape how powerhouse country-soul vocalists like Valerie June and Wynonna Judd influence The War And Treaty's latest sound. The duo's pairing is less unlikely than it appears at first glance: both grew up listening to classic country and Memphis soul records, among many other genres. As a result, on the song "Reclaim All of Your Time," their styles blend seamlessly with Tanya Trotter's veteran gospel-soul stylings. For nearly five years after writing the folksy, female-empowerment ballad, Michael Trotter, its creator, believed it should be presented as a conversational piece with layered harmonies. He was right. The song, both in its composition and vocal delivery, combines warmth and strength to forge a rare genre bridge. Beyond collaborations, The War And Treaty's latest work also thoughtfully seeks to expand Ray Charles' 50-year-old idea that the best music exists in the tension between sacred sounds and secular desires. Given that Michael and Tanya Trotter are a married couple, their ability to explore that space is obvious. Yet, their decade-long efforts to meet industry expectations in folk, Americana, and country music left significant raw and romantic potential in their sound untapped. "We're finally performing material that shows people how, beyond being mature and intentional, how sanctified and sexual we can be," says Tanya Trotter. "For Michael and me, it's important to show the combination of rawness and sweetness that underlies our soulful sound." "It's a privilege to be Tanya's husband," Michael Trotter says with a sly twinkle in his eye. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to witness every aspect of her life. It lets me see her power in humanity and spirit in ways most people never will." In a way similar to the 2025 Plus One album track "Mr. Fun," the duo revisits direct, earnest, sexy, and, yes, intense honky-tonk-meets-juke-joint-style storytelling in "Darlene and Gene." It's a dusty soul song reminiscent of blues records, whether from Chicago, Illinois, or Clarksdale, Mississippi. "Holy Ghost Fire" elevates whatever themes previous efforts like "Mr. Fun" and "Darlene and Gene" established for the duo by timelessly connecting multiple generations of soul music to humanity, a value beyond measure. A love and heartbreak song that Michael Trotter has waited his whole life to sing is starkly wrapped in a domestic violence-survival anthem that Tanya Trotter has endured to vocalize. That inherent tension is reflected in the song's tone and tenor. It ignites like a torch rather than a stick, sparking a five-alarm blaze rather than a small fire. Through the song, both parts of The War And Treaty finally confront their core truths at the height of their artistic power. Embracing their creative calling, rather than just skimming the surface, is the victory not only of what the explosive "Holy Ghost Fire" represents but of the entire album. "For The War And Treaty, feeling every aspect of what we're writing and singing has grown from representing routine emotions to now demanding that people connect with our spirit," says Michael Trotter. "Evoking hard, honest emotions first required me to find those parts in myself," Tanya Trotter adds. "Once you find them, there's a strength to the urgency that feels like you'll be at your wits' end if you don't express that emotion." As for what the record offers next, the inclusion of superstar songwriter Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds as a contributor for "You Can't Hurt Me Anymore" was a conscious choice, aligning the duo with an empathetic lineage that starts with Aretha Franklin, Roberta Flack, and Donny Hathaway. Michael and Tanya Trotter's combined musical and emotional intelligence allows their new songs to gently but firmly address the world's complexities. "The power of language is that it can peacefully balance emotions," says Tanya Trotter. "However, for many generations, even when the conversations don't use words, it's always been important (first and foremost), not to question where an emotion is coming from, but instead understand the context (that created them)," adds Michael Trotter. "Sometimes, when I was a child, my mother would be crying while she was washing dishes, and I would watch my grandmother come over and put a hand on her shoulder — no words, just love." "In any context, embracing sharing the beauty of completing conversations with each other, with humility and love, is needed in our world now, more than ever. Because we're born into this world drenched in love, we all have enough of it to share."

Brothers Zohar & Adam Cabo are fast becoming one of the most talked about new acts in Jazz. With Zohar on keyboards and Adam on drums, these rising young stars bring a lifetime of musical experiences and influences to bear on their eclectic, genre-bending duo performances.Born to musician parents Richard Cabo (former Latin big band leader) and Dassi Rosenkrantz (bassist, record producer, and educator) the two brothers, together with their sister Noga were veteran performers before they reached their teens, even recording an album as a familyband at the legendary Sun Studios in Memphis. The pandemic found the two high schoolers quarantined at home, andout of this isolation, a new creative direction was born. On their debu talbum Osmosis, Zohar & Adam weave the diverse strands of their musical upbringing into a unique blend of progressive Jazz, Latin rhythms, hip hop, and world music sensibilities, bringing to mind such legends as Chick Corea and Weather Report, and performed with the kind of telepathic synchronicity that only a lifetime of playing together can bring. Among the first to recognize their talent was bass legend Christian McBride, founder of the jazz education program Jazz House Kids. JHK and McBride’s mentorship have been an integral part of their musical development over the years. McBride makes a guest appearance on Osmosis, alongside renowned saxophonist Steve Wilson. Other notable guests include bassist Hadrien Feraud and Julian Pollack, aka J3PO. 2026 will see the release of Zohar & Adam’s debut project, Osmosis, in partnership with Mack Avenue Records.

There is a kinetic energy that binds drummer and producer Karriem Riggins and singer-songwriter, rapper, and producer Liv.e—the spark that happens when instinct meets flow and spirit finds rhythm. Their collaborative debut as GENA (short for “God Energy, Naturally Amazing,” and loosely inspired by Gina from Martin ), The Pleasure Is Yours (out 2/27/2026 via Lex Records), feels like a playful, soulful conversation between two kindred improvisers: Liv.e’s smoky, unpolished vocals glide through Riggins’ warm, percussive universe. Rooted in jazz, soul, and hip-hop as living language, the Dallas-born Liv.e brings a raw, experimental approach to R&B, while Detroit native Riggins—known for his work with Common, Erykah Badu, The Roots, Madlib, and a close kinship with the late J Dilla—extends his lifelong dialogue between jazz improvisation and beat science. Together they create a world that’s analog and ethereal, percussive and poetic, bridging eras without ever settling in one; The Pleasure Is Yours is the sound of Liv.e and Riggins bringing each other’s music to life and finding a new language together—one rooted in rhythm, vulnerability, and exuberance.
