Get ready for a night of laughter, community, and unforgettable stand-up at Powder Puff Comedy! The name "Powder Puff" is a playful nod to the long-standing American high school tradition of Powder Puff football, where girls took center stage on the field and the boys had to cheer them on. While our version skips the touchdowns and tackles, it embraces that same spirit of celebration, spotlighting female, LGBTQ+ comics, and the occasional honorary ally. Since its debut, Powder Puff Comedy has become a consistent sellout, drawing packed crowds and building a reputation as one of the most up and coming comedy shows in the city. Founder and hosts Ellie Gill and Eliza Andrew are bringing you a show that combines top-tier stand-up with an atmosphere that is both welcoming and distinctive in its authenticity. ## THE INFINITE FRIGHT

- Price: $25
- Tickets and info: https://www.tixr.com/groups/asylumnyc/events/the-infinite-fright-205524

For one ghoulish weekend, we’re resurrecting our spookiest short plays to bring you The Infinite Fright —a special Halloween version of our hit show The Infinite Wrench ! Costumes encouraged. Join us Friday, October 30th at 9:30 p.m. for late-night Fright , featuring an hour of bone-chilling performances—live, up close, and maybe just a little too real. The Infinite Wrench is a barrage of 30 short plays the cast attempts to perform within a single hour in a race against the clock. Each play offers something different, be it funny, profound, elegant, disgusting, topical, irrelevant, terrifying, or even a dance or a song. All are truthful and tackle the here-and-now, inspired by the lived experiences of the performers. With new plays every week, The Infinite Wrench is the Neo-Futurists’ ongoing and ever-changing attempt to shift the conventions of live performance and speak to audiences, including those unreached or unmoved by traditional theater. At the end of every show, the audience will roll a die on stage. The cast will add the rolls from each weekend together to determine how many plays to remove from that selection of 30 plays. They will then write, pitch, and perform new work the very next week, welcoming chance, change, and chaos into the creative process. Come to The Infinite Wrench next month, and the show could be completely different with all new plays and cast members. To date, our 100+ ensemble members, past and present, have written and produced over 7,750 world premiere plays, and are set to complete their 1,050th week of performances this year. The New York Neo-Futurists were founded in 2004 by a group of NYC performers trained by the original Neo-Futurist company in Chicago. After residencies at venues including the Brooklyn Lyceum, HERE, Cherry Lane, The Kraine, Second City NY, and The Brooklyn Improv, The Asylum is now the home of this critically-acclaimed show. The New York Neo-Futurists have been a stalwart presence in the Off-Off Broadway community since their inception and have won numerous Innovative Theatre Awards, earned multiple Drama Desk Nominations, and were honored at The 2018 Fresh Fruit Festival Awards with the Honeyberry Award for Unrecognized Service to the LGBT Community. “The Neo-Futurists — brilliant minimalists, all — actually get the plays across, in all their fatal glory, even as they are racking up guffaws." - New York Magazine “The hardest working theater group in the city right now." - Time Out New York \ "An impish illustration of how lively entertainment can be created from theatrical spare parts." - The New York Times (Critic’s Pick) “An entertaining forum for discussing the issues.” - The New Yorker "This long-running Off-Off-Broadway gig proved itself equal to anything the big boys offer.” - Forbes Magazine, listed Best Theater of 2015 Venue Information 🍸 Come Early, Stay Late – Our full cocktail bar and lounge open one hour before show time and keep the good vibes going for up to an hour after the final show. 👶 Age Matters – Guests must be at least 16+ to attend. ## Rowling In It: Villain In Progress

When everyone’s already cast you as the villain, you might as well enjoy being bad. Once upon a time, award winning but completely unknown actress Laura Kay Bailey headed to the Edinburgh Fringe to play the theater world’s most hated public figure: J.K. Rowling. The show she performed in had Edinburgh “running scared” (Telegraph): the backstage chaos was unscripted and the death threats real. The New York Times was in the audience. No one had packed extra Valium. Direct from London, Rowling In It: Villain In Progress is Laura’s story: a wickedly funny solo hour about artistic ambition, public outrage and finding your feet after spectacular failure. In a "tour de force performance" (ReviewsGate), Bailey takes aim at J.K. Rowling's tweets, performative activism, and a theatre industry that can turn a short supply of oat milk into a moral crisis. For fans of The Play That Goes Wrong, The Book of Mormon, Fleabag and Puffs, or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years at a Certain School of Magic and Magic. Written and performed by Laura Kay Bailey Directed by Dominic Shaw (Associate Director of The Devil Wears Prada ) Produced by Hannah Elsy Productions (Co-Producer of The Ask at Theatre 555) Dramaturgy by Jordan S. Daniel (National Theatre Scotland) Design team: Video by PJ McEvoy, Sound by Mark Fenton, Original London Lighting Design by Nina Morgen ★★★★ — “Delightfully wicked humor” — Theatre and Tonic ★★★★ — “A whirlwind of comedy and social criticism” — All That Dazzles ★★★★ — “Funny and irreverent” — Reviews Gate ★★★★ — “An intriguing story of the personal cost of public outrage” — A Shiny Life For Me “A funny and engaging one-woman show” — Daily Mail “A fantastic array of comic impersonations” — The Spectator “Very entertaining and amusing… tight, funny and pointed” – Bleeding Cool On Instagram - @rowlinginit Venue Information 🍸 Come Early, Stay Late – Our full cocktail bar and lounge open one hour before showtime and keep the good vibes going for up to an hour after the final show. 👶 Age Matters – Guests must be at least 16+ to attend.
