A reading and conversation with Kylie Cheung, author of My Boyfriend, the Superhero, in conversation with Anna Iovine and Kat Tenbarge. A breed of newly arrived superhumans form an elite team that patrols and supposedly protects the world, keeping ordinary inhabitants safer. But criminology researcher Dr. Elisabeth Atwood disagrees, and after personal tragedy strikes, she becomes the face of a movement exposing the dangers of the superheroes’ unfettered power. By turns erotic and deranged, My Boyfriend, the Superher o is a feminist psychothriller that courts ambiguity in this era of increasing surveillance and police violence. 🎟️ [ RSVP HERE ] Kylie Cheung is a journalist and the author of several nonfiction books including Survivor Injustice and Playing the Victim . My Boyfriend, the Superhero is her fiction debut, followed by her forthcoming 2027 novel, Genesis . She lives in Brooklyn. Anna Iovine is a journalist, fiction writer, and union activist. She's currently the associate features editor at Mashable and is working on a novel. Kat Tenbarge is an award-winning independent journalist behind the newsletter Spitfire News . She also runs a YouTube channel about feminism and pop culture. [ ABOUT THIS EVENT : The rear of the store will be used exclusively for this event.
