Produced by Skylight Productions Theater Written by Paul David Young; directed by Danilo Gambini; starring Baize Buzan; costume and set design by Jimmy Stubbs; lighting design by Nicole Lang McDonald; sound design by Liam Bellman-Sharpe The late Roman Empire is in chaos. Livia longs for her lover, who left Rome to lead the rebellion against the incompetent, debauched emperor. How has the once noble Roman republic succumbed to the tyrant's hand? Livia: A Roman Tragedy, though set in ancient Rome, is an urgent message for our time. Livia quotes the dramatic literature situated in ancient Rome, such as Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, Titus Andronicus, Coriolanus, and Antony and Cleopatra, and plays by Corneille, Ibsen, and Dürrenmatt, plus Roman philosophers Seneca, Cicero, and Epictetus, and the German sociologist Norbert Elias. ## The Master's Tools

- Venue: The Sam Theater
- Run: Jan 8 - Jan 31, 2027
- Source: https://theflea.org/calendar

Presented By The Flea Author: Zora Howard Most widely known as a tertiary character in Arthur Miller’s The Crucible , Tituba was a 17th Century Black woman enslaved by the Reverend Samuel Parris in Salem, Massachusetts. When rumors of witchcraft plagued the town, Tituba was amongst the first to be imprisoned for her involvement in the “Black arts.” Though her influence on the witch trials to follow was substantial, she was mostly forgotten in the historical record and the literary imagination. In THE MASTER’S TOOLS , Tituba speaks, post-Salem. At last an agent in her own myth making, Tituba defies the many masters that have laid claim to her story, centering instead her own subjectivity and violent truth. Deftly weaving humor, terror, and spectacle, Tituba subverts our notions of good and evil, challenging our perception of this canonical character and the canon itself. THE MASTER’S TOOLS was developed as a part of the Under Construction Series of the Under the Radar Festival and in an international presentation with Wiener Festwochen in Vienna Austria, both in 2024. Showtimes Friday, January 8 - Sunday, January 31 | 7:00PM Additional showtimes to be announced Run Time 60 minutes For Box Office inquiries, please contact: info@theflea.org
