The Living Room and Death In a farcical domestic setting five family members are dealing with the loss of a loved one as the Angel of Death and Azazel, a fallen angel, bring a surreal and otherworldly presence to the scene. The play’s humor arises from the absurdity of its characters, who grapple with the profound and the trivial in equal measure, creating a multilayered atmosphere around the themes of death, grief, and mortality. The sense of meaningful nonsense in the conversations recalls the tradition of absurdist theater.

15 years after winning “Best of the Fest” at Hollywood Fringe, Joy Nash (Dietland, Twin Peaks: The Return) brings a revamped version of her sensational one-woman show to The Tank for its New York premiere. The year is 2003, and Joy is a smart but sheltered all-American girl studying abroad in Europe. Finally free from the watchful eye of her hyper-religious mother and the painful reminders of her best friend’s death, she’s ready to stop living her life from the sidelines. Then, almost like magic, she meets a charming, handsome, enigmatic stranger on the streets of Venice. He says he’s there “on business” but he says a lot of things, and most of them don’t make any sense. As Joy gets tangled deeper in his web of half-truths, she finds herself in a plot straight out of a romance novel- complete with mysterious criminals, late-night Eiffel Tower rendezvous, and broken hearts. Years later, Joy is ready to tell the tale in full; the good, the bad, and the “WTF?!”. Some love stories are stranger than fiction…

- Tickets and info: https://tickets.thetanknyc.org/EventAvailability?EventId=169601&ref=bookNow

"EVERYONE WAITS— FOR SOMETHING TO BEGIN, TO CHANGE, TO ARRIVE. ""Just Keep Waiting"" explores the shared human experience of waiting—for something to begin, to change, to arrive. We wait for the first domino to fall, for something to set life into motion. Through evocative physicality and emotional honesty, the dancers embody the tension, hope, uncertainty, and quiet persistence held within the words ""Just Keep Waiting"". Developed by sarAika and Katia across New York, Italy, and Japan, ""Just Keep Waiting"" returns in its fourth edition. With each iteration, the work evolves in response to a new place, new performers, and a new environment. Architecture, walls, doors, objects, atmosphere, and the particular bodies inhabiting the space become part of the work itself—allowing each edition to exist only in the place and moment in which it is created."

- Tickets and info: https://tickets.thetanknyc.org/EventAvailability?EventId=166001&ref=bookNow

For every to-do list, there are things better left undone. On the last night before her childhood home is sold, a young woman gets a call from her dead father. As childhood memories distort, warping into something sinister, she must confront not only the spirit of her father, but the child-self she buried with him. Anchored by home videos from the creator's childhood and newspaper articles written by her late father, SCAPE resurrects this vast personal archive. These records form the narrative core and aesthetic touchstone of the play, becoming scene partners that blur the line between the living and the lost. A haunted reckoning unfolds in the static, where the past won’t stay dead. POPE JOAN is a multidisciplinary theatre company creating boundary-pushing new works that examine the histories that have shaped womanhood through to the digital age. With work spanning design, theatre, and film, POPE JOAN co-founders and artists Kyndall Sillanpaa and Sophie Vincent create unflinching work that asks what it means to fall apart and rebuild again.

## Electra Untitled

- Run: November 5-November 6
- Tickets and info: https://tickets.thetanknyc.org/EventAvailability?EventId=172601&ref=bookNow

Electra Untitled is a dance theatre adaptation of Sophocles’ Electra in dialogue with J. P. Sartre’s The Flies, through the female and queer gaze. The performance is an international, travelling excavation of personal autobiographies, as well as a reconstruction of the collective and archetypal body of Electra as a bearer of memory, trauma and resistance. It is developed through a laboratory process with local artists around the world, attempting to give equal weight to both the creative process and the artistic outcome in a re-approach to ancient Greek tragedy, questioning its relevance for the theatre of today. The performance blends Theodoros Terzopoulos’ Physical Theatre Method, Puppetry and Live Cinema. A multicultural ensemble of dancers/puppeteers uses their autobiographical material around gender-based violence (GBV) to rewrite the myth of Electra and illuminate how patriarchy affects relationships between female identities and queer people. Electra becomes a contemporary anti-heroine, trapped within a violence that runs through generations of patriarchal oppression. The performers transform the stage in order to retell the ancient myth and address the collective body of Electra, deeply investigating a feminist reconsideration of the character and of the tragedy as a whole. Electra Untitled adds a twist to an old narrative and highlights the role of women who bring about change in times of hostility and disintegration. Sophocles’ tragedy Electra functions as a conceptual framework and is used as a metaphor alongside autobiographical testimonies from the performers and workshop participants in order to tell stories of intergenerational violence.

- Tickets and info: https://tickets.thetanknyc.org/EventAvailability?EventId=160801&ref=bookNow

"Fast and Furious is a show about collective experience. It’s a place to make fun and meaning of all the things we experience together as New Yorkers, internet-scrollers, and happening-noticers, but may not have been given a moment to say, “Wow, that was crazy, right?” In practice, the show is an intimate collection of original performance pieces reacting to real-life events that happened in the 30 days leading up to each show. The event can be something that made international news, or just happened on the artist’s block—but it must be something that more than one person has shared. A set of six 10-minute performances is created by a group of 5 stunning multi-disciplinary artists who return every month to present a completely fresh piece in their medium of choice, whether it’s theater, comedy, dance, music, or something in-between. The result is a completely original evening that leaves us feeling closer to acts of spontaneous art and each other. Interested in becoming a part of the show? Sign up for our email list. ## New York New Music Festival: Sixth Degree Sextet

- Run: November 20-November 20
- Tickets and info: https://tickets.thetanknyc.org/EventAvailability?EventId=166202&ref=bookNow

Sixth Degree Sextet is an NYC-based new music ensemble formed by Andrea Abel (flute), Gabriel Henkin (clarinet), Madeline Hocking (violin), Clara Cho (cello), Nacho Ojeda (piano), and Jonathan Collazo (percussion). Hailing from six different countries and united by a shared artistic vision, the ensemble takes its name from the concept of Six Degrees of Separation - the idea that any two people can be connected through a chain of mutual relationships. This program brings that idea of connection into three very different works, each offering its own perspective on relationships between people, places, and ideas. Anuj Bhutani’s Flight Path draws on the composer’s fascination with birds and their migratory journeys, imagining how a shared destination can still allow for an entirely individual path. Erich Barganier’s 91 Hours examines the complicated nature of intimacy, exploring how closeness can exist alongside trauma and how the two can become difficult to separate. Samantha Wolfe’s A Rose Is a Rose Is a Ruse: A Bachelor’s Tale brings the conventions of reality television into the concert hall, complete with romance, declarations of love, and the inevitable - and often hilarious - complications that follow.

Currently based in New York City, the duo has performed in multiple venues around New York, including Spectrum, Merkin Hall at Lincoln Center, the CUNY Graduate Center, and a residency at Manhattan School of Music facilitated by Reiko Fueting. In summer 2023, the duo was the ensemble-in-residence at New Music On The Point on Lake Dunmore, Vermont. Their most recent album release can be found on Bandcamp. Confluss is excited to showcase a broad range of musical styles and influences, including recent premieres by old and new collaborators, and works by Zagnit himself. ## New York New Music Festival: Duo Extempore

Ordinary Places finds pianist Nicole Brancato and bassist Evan Jagels improvising in dialogue with field recordings of everyday locations, treating them as the third member of their trio. Together, they explore the fluid boundary between music and the ordinary sounds of daily life, revealing the familiar cycles and spaces of our shared humanity as truly extraordinary. Through eight distinct soundworlds captured across NY state, the duo draws inspiration from wind chimes, a car, a coffee shop, the subway, a kitchen, rain, a motorcycle, and a window in spring, turning the sounds of ordinary days into a shared musical language. The album's creation was supported in part by the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA).

## Neighbors 5

- Run: November 22-November 22
- Tickets and info: https://tickets.thetanknyc.org/EventAvailability?EventId=162201&ref=bookNow

Regina Nejman and Despina Sophia Stamos explore the charged spaces between bodies, histories, and the social scripts that shape female presence. The performers navigate a score of entrances and exits, sustained stillnesses and sudden crossings: a physical architecture of parallel lives that hover next to each other. They are adjacent, sometimes touching, sometimes never quite touching, but always aware. The dance centers the interiority of women: their thinking, feeling, dreaming, protecting, witnessing the interior voices that rarely get staged. It treats costume not as decoration but as an engine of self-transformation. Clothing becomes social commentary: an index of how women are framed, branded, consumed, idealized, erased. Music and sound by Julian Rozzell Jr. deepen this layering, sometimes breathing beneath, sometimes disrupting with tonal or rhythmic breaks. The sound composition operates as both pulse and counter-narrative, a parallel line of meaning that moves beside the body, not under it. The work is intimate rather than spectacular; it privileges detail, nuance, and the tiny negotiations between two people sharing space. Ultimately this is a study of proximity-how close we are, how close we allow ourselves to be, and how every choice of gesture, garment, and gaze changes who we are allowed to become.

## Stumbling Stones: The John Rosenberg Story

- Run: November 30-November 30
- Tickets and info: https://tickets.thetanknyc.org/EventAvailability?EventId=168401&ref=bookNow

John Rosenberg survived Nazi Germany as a child and spent the next eight decades fighting for people the law forgot. He challenged voter suppression in Mississippi courthouses during the worst years of Jim Crow. He moved his young family to the Appalachian coalfields and opened a legal-aid office where the powerful had written the rules for generations — and started rewriting them. Written and Performed by Jeff Sherr, Stumbling Stones :The John Rosenberg Story Webmoves through time — from pre-war Germany to the organizing circles of Fannie Lou Hamer to a Kentucky hollow where land rights and dignity were the same fight. While John argued cases, Jean Rosenberg saw what was missing and built it: childbirth education and direct support for single mothers in a region where neither existed. Together, they didn't just serve the community — they helped forge it. John Rosenberg is 95 years old and still doing the work. At a moment when voting rights are again contested and the question of who deserves protection under the law is being re-litigated in real time, his story is not history — it is instruction. STUMBLING STONES is a story of hope. Not the easy kind, but the kind built stone by stone by ordinary people who decide the world can be repaired — and then get to work.

## Echo

- Tickets and info: https://tickets.thetanknyc.org/EventAvailability?EventId=159601&ref=bookNow

"Echo is a retelling of the Greek Myth of Echo and Narcissus. A story of greed, pain, loss, and perseverance. Our retelling is done through an emphasis on the female experience, heightened text, and modern dance. At the crossroads of Shakespeare, Greek text, and Sarah Ruhl's poetry; you will find Echo. Echo and her sisters serve the God of Gods, Zeus, in his lustful wants. But when a jealous Hera arrives looking for her husband, Echo is caught in the crossfire. Hera discovers her husband and Echo’s deceit. Echo is cursed while her sisters are subject to the mercy of Hera. Now only being able to speak the last words spoken to, Echo thinks she finds a way to break out of her life when she meets Narcissus. Narcissus, the child of the River God Cephissus and a Water Nymph Liriope, knows he is the want ofall the women in his village and the envy of his fellow hunters, yet none of them are worthy enough for him. None more than his close friend, Ameinias, who does everything in his power to gain Narcissus’ affection and enables his harmful behavior. When Echo and Narcissus meet, Echo believes she has found her true love, while Narcissus sees a way to show everyone how changed he is by love. Soon the disguise of sweet love turns sickly, and Echo finds herself trapped in a place far worse than when she started. Ameinias’ jealousy grows to the point of no return, making the ultimate sacrifice to set his heart free. When all hope is almost lost, the Goddess of Revenge, Nemesis, settles the score. Narcissus turns his behavior onto Echo, blaming her for all of his misfortune and eventually discarding her from his life. The damage that Narcissus has caused is too much without retribution. Nemesis curses Narcissus to fall in love with the next living thing he sets eyes on. As he reaches in a pond and sees himself, he falls in love with his reflection and withers away along the pond. All that’s left in his place is a daffodil. Echo, heartbroken cannot release herself from her love of Narcissus as she is reduced but the repeating words of those around her. In the end, as her life comes to an end, she sees the beauty of life around her and the footsteps of the women she has walked in and the women who will walk in hers."

## Quand tu sors du feu

- Run: February 4-February 28
- Tickets and info: https://tickets.thetanknyc.org/EventAvailability?EventId=173601&ref=bookNow

"Quand tu sors du feu" is a three-hander that is equal parts 1920s cabaret, andalusi music, family gossip and internet hole. Ella and her ghosts-- the Tunisian Jewish vocalist Habiba Msika, and Ella's French-Algerian grandfather André, a painter and sculptor-- move through time in many combinations, recounting the violence and delight of their close relationships, each shedding light on the dark corners of the other, whether they want that light shed or not. For some, intimacy is less pure pleasure and more midnight haunting. As a child, Ella used to perform cabarets in her bedroom to the trees outside her window. As an adult packing up that same bedroom to ready the house for her parents' divorce, Ella regresses to this childish format. In so-doing, she finds herself haunted by her grandfather and Habiba, who represent the legacies of thwarted intimacy she has inherited: hidden queer relationships, and abusive, patriarchal maghrebi family dynamics. With a live band, (including judeo-arab vocalist Laura Elkeslassy), ""Quand tu sors du feu"" uses 1920s andalusi music, spirit possession and the childhood bedroom--that first-ever stage, that cradle of primary intimacies-- to play out what is actually an epic battle. A battle to break free from toxic family patterns. A refusal to give up on transformative loving. A promise to construct a roadmap out of childhood fear into adult love. The kind of adult love that lesbian theologian Ruby Sales speaks of when she says: ""Adulthood is the chance to free ourselves from the nightmare of our childhoods."" It is that nightmare Ella is trying to wake herself from. It is that kind of freedom she longs for. In ""Quand tu sors du feu"" we want to get real about the life-and-death stakes, the nerves of steel it takes to love as a lesbian, a north-african mutt, an artist.
