Music Director: Jon Weber Bass: Steve Doyle Drums: Ray Marchica Directed by: Sondra Lee Jeff Harnar returns to Birdland with his BroadwayWorld Award-winning show, I Know Things Now: My Life in Sondheim’s Words , on Monday, November 9 at 7pm . Drawing from the words and music of Stephen Sondheim , Harnar creates a deeply personal self-portrait of the emotional landscape of an openly gay New Yorker. Joined by renowned jazz pianist and music director Jon Weber , with Steve Doyle on bass and Ray Marchica on drums, Harnar explores an eclectic collection of songs from Follies, Into the Woods, A Little Night Music, Road Show, Dick Tracy, Passion, Company and more. With a gender-bending fluidity, Harnar brings his own perspective to Sondheim’s work, including many songs originally introduced by women. The show received Stephen Sondheim’s personal endorsement and was recorded by PS Classics as a MAC Award-winning album . I Know Things Now was directed by Broadway legend Sondra Lee , who originated the role of Tiger Lily opposite Mary Martin in Peter Pan and Minnie Fay opposite Carol Channing in Hello, Dolly! This special encore performance is dedicated to Lee’s memory following her passing in February 2026. “Ingenious … singularly special.” — The New York Sun “A thing of wonder, a show of powerful storytelling … unforgettable, impeccable and completely original.” — BroadwayWorld
