Students in Richard Barone's Music + Revolution: Greenwich Village in the 1960s class at The New School’s School of Jazz & Contemporary Music will take the historic Bitter End stage to perform songs from the songwriters they have studied — legends who shook the world with their words and music and created one of the most important musical movements in the history of American popular music. The Bitter End played a major role in this musical revolution. In the 1960s, a new wave of songwriters and performers, inspired by the folk music revival, jazz, and Beat poetry, created socially aware and deeply personal music that spoke to a generation like never before.
